I think, we got it all wrong about the Maayans,
They were right, Yes ! Humanity ended,
if not humans.
Or else, what could be an explanation
for, the missing girls of Nigeria,
the kids shot in America.
The girl raped brutally, in that chilly december night.
and the girl killed , in the name of justice, for putting up a fight.
There are monsters all around, beheading humanity,
There are monsters inside, advocating insanity.
If God exists, may be he is furious,
hinting it to us, with the Tsunamis and Nilofers.
hinting it to us, with the Tsunamis and Nilofers.
Is there any hope?
Will we save us from us, before we collapse in the volcano of destruction
Or, will we survive to become a species, devoid of heart and brain
in the course of evolution.

Very thought provoking and yes humanity died a long way back, but still the world is moving for at least some of it still resides in a few. lets hope for a better tomorrow.

Deletehope not...though perhaps we're heading that way....
ReplyDeleteYes Sumana, hope not
DeleteTroubling questions with uncomfortable answers.
ReplyDeleteYes... I think we should start finding answers, before humanity dies really
DeleteWhy do you have that wretched verification AND moderation? If you are going to moderate, surely that is enough?
ReplyDeleteNoted. Will change that
DeleteWe are a strange species that has that need to be cruel and unjust. Do so few of us care that we do nothing to change ourselves? Why are so few of us crying in the wilderness?
ReplyDeleteActually i feel its not that only few of us are crying... the bigger problem is not all of us who feel the pain are not doing anything about it, when good keeps quiet evil wins by default :(
DeleteA very heartfelt write. I would have thought too that we would have learned something over the years. But no..... I enjoyed your perspective & thoughts.
ReplyDeleteTx. for reading Mary :)
DeleteOUCH!! Well said, and that conclusion is a very frightening outcome indeed.
ReplyDeleteyes its frightening, unless we really do something about it
DeleteNo shit! Keep the faith and serve as an example even though we may get trampled on with words and demanded on for perfection. Their definition is self centered for destruction of another. Nice piece. Thought provoking.

Thanks R.K. Garon.
DeleteA strong stance for either a change in the news or a change in us. The good news id often forgotten in the name of ratings so we must strive to find the happy and positive stories in the chaos of our lives.
ReplyDeleteTrue... Good News is forgotten and hence the positive sentiments... I am sure good exists but I am scared that it won't be long, before it dies.... Unless we bombard so much goodness in our thoughts and our deeds that evil loses.
DeleteHard questions, perhaps the true humanity is only hiding, temporarily, out of fear for its life.. I do believe it will emerge again
ReplyDeleteI sincerely hope so
DeleteI like the way you started your poem. Yours are questions I can relate to. The horrors we have witnessed in the past few months are despicable and frightening. Yet I hope we have not totally lost our humanity.
ReplyDeleteTx. Gabriella.... Even I hope so
Deleteoh i imagine any loving god would be furious at what we have made of our world...nice blend in of the mayaans, news...and all...and this packs a punch...
ReplyDeleteThanks Brian
Deletei am not sure if there is a definite answer. it's always a struggle but our only consolation is to realize that we are lucky to be given the chance to live.
ReplyDeleteNot sure if we are really lucky.... we are slowly seeing humanity dying in front of us...
Delete"Will we save us from us, before we collapse in the volcano of destruction"
ReplyDeleteLove this line..truly we have become a species without heart and brain...so mechanical... :-(
Tx. Maniparna..ya its a sad truth that we have become so mechanical
DeleteIf you examine the crimes...a lot are crimes against women. Misogyny is rife in our twenty first century and exists in all walks of life. Good poem

DeleteYour poem here conjures up apocalyptic thoughts. You succeeded with the current references in it. Very good indeed!
